At the opening ceremony, Professor Jiang Siwen, Secretary General of the Teaching Guidance Committee of animal production major of the Ministry of education, delivered a speech. He said that the speciality of silkworm speciality is an important part of animal production specialty.

Li Ronghua, Secretary of the school Party committee, Minister of Propaganda Department of the Party committee and Minister of the network Work Department of the Party committee, said in his speech that the school's sericulture specialty has always been a characteristic specialty of the Ministry of education, and the National Key Laboratory of genome biology of silkworm has always been committed to cultivating innovative high-level professionals. We hope that through the competition, young sericultural biotechnology successors can learn closely the valuable spirit of a generation of sericultural masters, feel the feelings of scientists, and better inherit and carry forward the Chinese sericultural culture.

Li Long, deputy director of the Chinese sericultural society and deputy director of the Sericultural Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said in his speech that the University sericulture biotechnology innovation competition is a national competition sponsored by the Chinese silkworm Association. It has attracted the participation of teachers and students from universities and colleges. It is of great significance to lead the national sericultural biotechnology students to be diligent in knowledge, innovation and practice, and hope that the majority of students will cherish the youth and devote themselves to scientific research and make greater achievements in the field of sericulture biotechnology.

90 final works from 15 colleges and research institutes, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Chongqing University, Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University, South China Normal University, South China Normal University, Ph.D., and so on, are divided into three groups, namely, doctoral group, master degree group, and undergraduate group. Each of the five sub venues is responsible for the contest, and 25 experts from all over the country have carried out work reviews. After a whole day's fierce competition, the competition Expert Committee has selected 15 first prize, 31 first prize, two prize 35 and three three prize 9.

On the closing ceremony, Shen Xingjia, Secretary General of the Chinese sericultural society, summarized the contest on behalf of the organizing committee. Professor Zhou Zeyang, chairman of the competition expert committee, announced the results of the competition. The 5 winners who won the first prize of the undergraduate group, the master's degree group and the doctoral group were presented with excellent works at the closing ceremony of the conference. Professor Xiang Zhonghuai, a member of the Chinese Academy of engineering, presented the prizes and delivered speeches to students who won the first prize. In his speech, academician Xiang Zhonghuai expressed warm congratulations on the successful holding of the competition and highly praised the excellent performance of the contestants. He thought that the competition showed the orientation of sericulture science and is an important platform for enhancing the sense of innovation, carrying forward the spirit of innovation, promoting academic exchanges and cultivating innovative talents. It will have a positive impact on the future development of sericulture biotechnology. To academicians, the Sericultural Science in China has greatly improved in the research foundation, research strength, research conditions and resource allocation. A generation has the responsibility of a generation. We hope that everyone will cherish the present and strive to create a better future for sericulture science.

It is reported that the "Oriental purple Cup" Second National University sericulture biotechnology competition is under the guidance of the Teaching Guidance Committee of animal production specialty of the Ministry of education, the National Key Laboratory of silkworm biology and silkworm biology, and the Key Laboratory of silkworm biology and genetics and breeding of Southwestern University, and the Chongqing Silk Association. The next competition will be held in Zhejiang University in 2020.
