Recently, media reported that the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region's central Wei city "Tengger desert edge to reproduce a large area of pollutants." The Ministry of ecology and environment attached great importance to sending the working group to the scene overnight. After preliminary verification, the media reflected the problem of pollution in the United States. In November 13th, the Ministry of ecology and environment decided to supervise the environmental pollution issue in central Wei city.

Preliminary verification is that the pollutants were from 1998 to 2004, the paper pulp black liquor of Ningxia Meili Paper Group Refco Group Ltd, which was the predecessor of the China Metallurgical Paper Group Limited, and the environmental protection and energy saving company of Ningxia Meili Paper Group. 120 thousand square meters (180 mu) area has been found to have 14 spotted and massive contaminated plots.

As of November 12th, a total of 64691 tons of solid waste were dug out, and 4 contaminated areas (about 12 thousand and 800 square meters) had been basically completed in 14 areas. At present, the properties of the sticky substance samples collected at the scene are identified, and the final results are determined after the completion of all the indicators.

The Ministry of ecology and environment has publicly supervised the environmental pollution problem of central Wei City, and urged the Ningxia autonomous region ecological environment department to urge the central government to do the following tasks:

First, continuous cleaning and scientific disposal. We should continue to organize clean-up of pollutants on the spot, speed up the identification of pollutant attributes, strictly establish the scientific and reasonable measures for pollutant disposal, soil risk control and repair measures in strict accordance with the conclusions of pollutant attribution and experts' opinions, conduct investigation and assessment of groundwater in contaminated sites, set up monitoring points as soon as possible, grasp the pollution situation in time, and make repair measures according to the results of investigation and assessment.

The two is a comprehensive investigation and serious handling. Investigate the environmental pollution incident, find out the related situation of the black liquor of the enterprises involved, such as the whereabouts and dumping of the black liquor, investigate and deal with the environmental violations committed by the enterprises concerned, investigate the responsibility of the relevant responsible persons according to the law, transfer the suspected crimes to the public security organs according to law, investigate and verify the relevant supervisory responsibilities, conduct serious treatment of the responsible persons according to the law, and carry out the work of compensation for the damage to the ecological environment according to the regulations.

Three, draw inferences from other sources and check hidden dangers. We must draw lessons from it and carry out a thorough investigation of environmental pollution in the Tengger Desert and surrounding areas. We must resolutely crack down on environmental pollution violations according to law and ensure the safety of the ecological environment.
