March 10th, China Cotton Association and the United States

A seminar on Sino US cotton policy will be held jointly in Beijing.

The development research center of the State Council, the Agricultural Development Department of the national development and Reform Commission, the Department of crop management of the Ministry of agriculture, the Ministry of foreign trade and economic cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce, the two clients of the China Agricultural Development Bank, the Institute of rural development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and China cotton.

Responsible persons, experts and scholars from relevant departments, trade associations and research institutes, as well as the heads of China Cotton Association's main member enterprises in Beijing attended the meeting.

Mr. Gary Adams, President and chief executive of the US cotton association and Mr. Slezi Taylor, former chairman, were invited to give special speeches on the current cotton situation and the implementation of the cotton insurance policy, as well as the mechanized planting and management mode of cotton.

Mr. Adams pointed out that 2014 the US agriculture bill has made a structural adjustment to the cotton support policy. The cotton insurance project is a cotton risk control network built by the three governments of the government, cotton growers and insurance companies. The 2015 cotton year is first implemented.

In combination with production practice, Mr. Taylor explained the mechanized management and experience of cotton production from seed selection, field management to the whole production process.

During the meeting, experts from China and the United States also exchanged views on specific issues such as cotton insurance and management of machine picked cotton.

The China Cotton Association and the national cotton Federation signed a memorandum of understanding in 2006. This year is just ten years. In the past ten years, the cooperation and exchanges between China and the United States have played a positive role in the development of cotton industry in China and the United States.

On the basis of cooperation among high-level delegations, exchange of information, and joint promotion of cotton consumption, the three Sino US Seminar on cotton policy has been successfully held, providing a bridge for communication and communication between the two sides.
