A new energy efficiency plan to promote the European textile industry has been launched, following the launch of a similar energy efficiency plan for the clothing industry.

The small and medium enterprises energy conservation plan (SET) is part of the European Union of textile and apparel (EURATEX)'s "energy manufacturing to measurement activities".

The plan will last until 2016 to help more than 300 textile enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to increase efficiency and save energy.

The plan will first focus on seven countries - Belgium, Czech, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Romania - which account for 55% of EU textile enterprises.

One of its goals is to develop energy saving and efficiency enhancing tools for small and medium-sized enterprises (ESET), while assisting 150 enterprises in on-site training.

In addition, it will help to assess the production processes of 350 companies and invest in improving their energy efficiency.

After the SET plan was continued in the SESEC (European apparel industry sustainable energy conservation plan), the SESEC plan ended in September (2014) and was supported by eight EU countries.

SESEC plans to help more than 50 companies measure their energy efficiency measures in Europe, including special ones.

Tools to help garment enterprises understand and rethink their energy expenditure, or even the use of building facilities, heating supply systems, ventilation and electricity.

Among them, such as Italy's manufacturer Canali SpA, has the opportunity to optimize its heat and electricity consumption; Bulgaria Kris Fashion has found that it can save 10%-15% energy consumption every year; Portugal sports clothing company Damel can clearly save up to 5% of the power and up to 3%.

Heat energy;

These are achieved by changing the lighting, changing the speed and insulation of the production machines.

A mechanical real-time energy consumption data analysis can help German manufacturer Marc Cain to save an average of 10% fuel consumption through new Mechatronics rules.

It also reduces the standby time of the machine to save up to 20% of the power.
