Iran'S Cotton Import Tax Dropped To 4%
The Iran Economic Daily reported on July 13th that Mohammad Mora Vicki, chairman of the Iran Textile Industry Association, announced in an interview with reporters of the university student news agency that this year, Iran textile owners can import cotton with a tariff of 4% to make up for the shortage of cotton caused by the decline in cotton production in the country.
He added that recently, the Ministry of mining industry, the Ministry of agriculture, the Ministry of agriculture and the textile industry jointly held a meeting. The Minister of mineral industry said in his speech that it is expected that the output of cotton will be reduced by 60 thousand tons this year, and that 90 thousand tons of cotton need to be imported urgently, so as to ensure the raw materials of the textile industry.
It is suggested that the Ministry of agriculture Jihad import cotton with a 4% tariff.
He pointed out that the committee composed of the three representatives had the right to decide the import of cotton.
He also said that we should do a good job in acquiring cotton from domestic cotton growers.
The import tax on cotton in Iran has been between 10%--15%.
The highest output of cotton in Iran reached 270 thousand tons, and the textile industry in Iran consumed 150 thousand tons of cotton per year.
