Cocoon production has been ranked first in Guangxi for three consecutive years. In the first half of this year, it was affected by natural disasters and low prices. The emergence of fresh cocoons decreased significantly, and the income of silkworm farmers decreased significantly.

Statistics show that in the first half of this year, Guangxi mulberry garden area was 2 million 17 thousand and 900 mu, 2 million 718 thousand and 900 silkworm eggs were released, a decrease of 10.08% over the same period last year, 100199 tons of silkworm cocoons (fresh cocoons), 9.18% reduction compared with the same period last year; the average purchasing price of fresh cocoons was 17.66 yuan / kg, up 1.49% over the same period last year, and the income of silkworm farmers selling cocoons was 1 billion 770 million yuan, down 7.81% from the same period last year.

According to statistics, in the first half of the year, 25 silkworm farms in Guangxi produced 1 million 971 thousand and 100 hybrids of one generation, down 22.53% from the same period last year.

Especially since the beginning of summer this year, there are more hot and rainy weather, some diseases such as pyogenic disease and stiff disease in some silkworm areas. The quality of silkworm cocoons has declined. Some enterprises have been pressing down the price to buy cocoons, and the price of cocoons has dropped considerably.

The average purchasing price of cocoons in Guangxi in June was 16.79 yuan / kg, down 10.41% from the same period last year, and is still in the stage of price recovery.

Analysis of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region sericultural Technology Extension Station concluded that although the market of cocoon silk declined in the second half of last year and the prices of production materials such as fertilizers, pesticides, labor and so on increased significantly this year, the mulberry garden area in Guangxi in the first half of this year was stable at 2 million mu, unchanged from the end of last year.

According to the development plan, Guangxi will take the road of regionalization, specialized production and large-scale operation on the basis of stabilizing the current area output, and strive to build a strong province of sericulture in China. The goal is to make the output value of fresh cocoons reach 5 billion to 6 billion yuan during the "11th Five-Year" period, plus the output value of the processing industry such as silk reeling and weaving, and the output value of the whole industry ranges from 10 billion to 20 billion yuan.
